Private PDF workflows
Know where your PDF is processed.
“PDF to Markdown” describes an output, not a privacy model. The important question is whether conversion happens on your computer or on a server.
Desktop: local document processing
With the 2cmd Drop Windows desktop app, ordinary conversion runs locally on your computer. Your PDF does not need to be uploaded to 2cmd infrastructure to produce Markdown.
You still control where the source PDF and resulting Markdown are stored, backed up, or shared after conversion.
Web: temporary server processing
The planned free browser converter will use a different model. A selected PDF will be uploaded temporarily to conversion infrastructure, processed there, and returned as a limited result. The service is not connected yet, and final retention wording will follow the implemented deletion controls.
Choose based on the document
A browser trial may be convenient for a small, non-sensitive document. For confidential material, large PDFs, repeat work, or pages that should stay on your computer, the desktop application is the clearer choice.
