Tables and structured data
Turn supported PDF tables into reviewable Markdown.
A Markdown table can make rows and columns easier to copy, compare, version, or provide to another tool—but PDF table extraction is not perfectly predictable.
Why tables are difficult
Many PDFs store text by visual position rather than as a true table. Merged cells, nested headers, wrapped labels, footnotes, scanned pages, and lines crossing page breaks can make the intended structure ambiguous.
Where Markdown tables work well
Simple grids with consistent columns are the strongest candidates. They can be useful for comparison lists, inventories, schedules, research summaries, and small datasets that still need human review.
Validate before relying on the result
- Compare headers and row counts with the source.
- Check numeric values, units, signs, and decimal places.
- Look for cells split across lines or pages.
- Keep the original PDF available as the source of record.
2cmd™ Drop supports Markdown output and multi-column reading-order correction, but no converter can guarantee perfect extraction from every PDF layout. OCR is not included in the initial product.
