Obsidian stores notes as Markdown files. Converting a PDF can provide a practical starting point when you want document content inside a note-based knowledge system.

From source document to note

Convert only the relevant pages, review the resulting headings and lists, then split or reorganize the Markdown into notes that fit your vault. Add your own links, properties, tags, and commentary after conversion.

Structure worth preserving

2cmd Drop is designed to retain useful reading order and Markdown structure where the PDF supports it, including correction for many multi-column layouts. PDF files vary widely, so complex visual layouts may still require review.

Keep source and interpretation distinct

Consider keeping a link or citation to the original PDF in your note. Separate converted source text from your own summary so future readers can understand what came from the document.

No official integration required

The output is ordinary Markdown. You decide how to name, organize, and import it. Obsidian is mentioned descriptively; there is no claim of partnership or official integration.
